After months of work, a video featuring some of Richboro's history is on cable TV.
The video produced by the township Historical Commission, the Heritage Conservancy and Video Gold Productions of Richboro, features historic properties and aims to show residents the importance of preservation. It hit the air on Northampton's cable channel 23 Monday and will run Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 5 p.m.; and at 9 a.m. only Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
"The hardest part (of making the video) is the production work," said Jeff Marshall, director of historic preservation for the Heritage Conservancy. "I got to do the easy part, which is go through the house and talk, "Northampton Historical Commission Member Virginia Geyer did the hard part."
Geyer began editing in September and finished earlier this month. It takes a long time because there were seven places to do," she said.
The video's producers sought permission from the owners of the seven sites featured. A special screening was held for those homeowners last Saturday, Geyer said.
"I'm so glad we got this done," she said. "The homeowners were pleased. They were surprised at how well it came out."
All properties featured were identified by their former owners' names, to protect the current owners' privacy.
Marshall hopes the video will "heighten awareness to show these buildings are worth preserving."
Inside the buildings, unique moldings and hinges were filmed along with smokehouses and spring houses Some buildings are more than 200 years old.
"We hope to do (a video for) Churchville and maybe the Holland area if people will give us permission to tape their homes," Geyer said.
Any new video project will have to wait until the spring, when the weather is nice, she added.
"There are people for conservation and preservation, there are people against conservation and preservation, and there are people in the middle," Marshall said, 'we do this (video) for those people in the middle" who are not sure where they stand on preservation. |
